This article provides step-by-step procedures regarding how to send data to us as well as how to receive data from us. Because of security issues, we will no longer accept data sent via e-mail attachments. Data is only accepted at our request and can be sent to our secure data transfer site via the Internet using the following procedures.
Data files coming into us should be compressed by using the built-in backup program in the Tabs3 and PracticeMaster software (STBACK.ARQ) or by using standard zip compression software. The Technical Support Representative you are working with can advise you whether an ARQ file will work or whether you will need to use zip compression software. Additional information regarding how to compress data files can be found in our KB article R10783 - Compressing Data Files.
The following procedures allow up to five files at a time to be uploaded. Currently, the ability to upload multiple files at a time is limited to Internet Explorer users.
There is a file size limitation of 200 megabytes. If the file you want to send is larger than 200 megabytes, contact Software Technology, Inc. for an alternative procedure.
If you need to upload data for conversion, evaluation or repair, use the following steps:
Note: If you are using Internet Explorer and you want to upload additional files, click the Add a File button (up to 4 times). Perform steps 5 and 6 for each file you want to upload.
File was saved to folder #.
Once the data has been evaluated and/or repaired or converted, the Technical Support Representative will call you to arrange any required payment. Once payment has been made, your data will be placed on our data transfer site on the Internet. Our Technical Support Representative will call you and advise you of the information required to access your data.
If you need to download data from our data transfer site on the Internet, use the following steps:
Our secure data transfer site uses the Internet standard Secure Sockets Layer (SSL) encryption protocol. SSL encryption is used by many secure Web sites, and is commonly employed when you need to transmit sensitive personal information such as credit card data, social security numbers, etc., over the Internet.
There are two ways you can tell when SSL encryption is in use: the address of the Web site will include https: rather than http:, and the browser will display a locked padlock icon in the status bar at the lower right. A good explanation of SSL encryption can be found on the "How Stuff Works" Web site at http://computer.howstuffworks.com/encryption.htm.
